  1. 1. The question displayed on the board is – how will the brightness of a bulb affected, if a soft iron piece is introduced in the inductor coil, placed in series with it to an ac supply? The answer is – Brightness decreases. This is because, on introducing the soft iron, inductance of the coil increases which would increase inductive reactance. Consequently, current in the circuit decreases and hence brightness of the bulb decreases.

    2. Inductive reactance is directly proportional to the frequency of the ac source. That’s why the Graph on the white board is a straight line (reactance vs frequency)

    3. For DC circuits, because the value of frequency is zero, the inductive reactance is zero. It means, DC offers zero opposition to the flow of current when a bulb and inductor are kept in series.
